Onwards and upwards – Rachel’s Story

Hi ladies. I am 31 and my problems stared after I was sterilised three years ago. I was bleeding most of the time, in pain and bad pain and bleeding while having intercourse. I had to keep going to my GP who made me feel I was making a mountain out of a molehill until I saw a different GP when things moved fast.

I was referred to gynaecologist who was great and I had a laparoscopy which showed I had adenomyosis and was told the best treatment was a total abdominal hysterectomy because the problem was getting worse and my family was already complete.

I knew the answer was ‘yes’, anything to stop the pain getting worse. So, now I am three weeks post op and I feel so much better already. But the big problem for me is resting, I have three children thank God but having a 3 year old is hard work and it feels like I’m saying ‘no’ to them all the time.

I want to take them to the park and to do things but I am just too tired I hope this will get better because at the moment I can’t see it. My partner has been my rock but he is a man’s man and just doesn’t understand how I feel and if I get a pain/upset/moody he tells me I have to rest.

I don’t know about other women but I’m not a ‘stay at home’ kind of girl and I feel like I’ve got cabin fever. I am trying to stay positive and look forward to a pain fee life. I hope this helps people to know they are not on their own as I have found this website the best. Thank you.
