My hysterectomy progress so far – Claire’s story

I had a total hysterectomy 10 days ago, by keyhole surgery. I felt a bit sick after the operation but otherwise ok. Found it really helpful to have my husband in the hospital with me most of the time.

Once home, was recovering well but was knocked back by getting a tummy bug, almost certainly acquired in the hospital. The pain was worse than that caused by the operation! Experienced bloating like many others have and my normally flat stomach is quite fat. Now feeling much better but taking it easy and just doing short walks. Hoping to be able to go on booked holiday in 22 days’ time.
